How fast does it start working?
The discs start releasing peppermint and clove the moment you open the pouch, with nothing to plug in, bait or wait for. In published lab studies of the ingredients, common fruit flies moved away from menthol, peppermint's signature compound, within 30 minutes, and flies stayed off a peppermint-treated bait from the very first one-hour check. Those studies tested the ingredients, not our discs, and how quickly you notice a difference depends on where your flies are breeding. That's why we pair discs with Sink Drops and give you 30 days to decide.
How many discs do I need?
One disc per spot where you see fruit flies: the fruit bowl, the trash, the sink. The Combo Pack (3 discs plus Sink Drops) covers a typical kitchen. For several rooms or a business, the Power Up Pack has 12 discs.
How often do I replace a disc?
When the scent fades. Peppermint's lightest compounds evaporate first, so a disc that smells mostly of clove is ready to swap, and a warm kitchen uses discs up faster than a cool one. Subscribers get a fresh pack every month at 20% off and can skip or pause anytime.
What does it smell like, and how strong is it?
Peppermint first, with clove underneath. You notice it within arm's reach of a disc and it settles into the background of the room within a day. As the peppermint fades the clove comes forward, which is your cue to swap the disc.
Is this a trap?
No. Nothing gets lured in and nothing dies on your counter. It's a deterrent: the discs put out peppermint and clove near the spots you want to protect. If you have a big swarm right now, a trap can knock the adults down while the discs and drops do their part.
What's in it?
The discs are natural wood, hand-soaked in 75% organic peppermint oil and 25% clove oil. Sink Drops contain peppermint oil, cedarwood oil, white vinegar and castile soap. That's the whole list.
Will the oil mark my counter?
The discs are soaked in oil, so set them on the included velcro dot, a small dish or a coaster rather than directly on unsealed wood, marble or paper. On sealed counters, glass and tile they're fine as they are.
Can I use it around pets and kids?
Treat it like any essential-oil product: keep discs and the dropper bottle out of reach of children and pets, and away from food. Cats are especially sensitive to concentrated essential oils, so place discs where cats can't get to them.
